The brown bear, also referred to as a Grizzly bear, is a large bear species found across Eurasia and North America.

Facts about Brown Bears

Depending on their age, sex, and the season, brown bears can reach a weight of between 300 and 1,200 pounds. In the wild, they are mainly active at dusk and during the night and they can live between 20 to 30 years. The oldest rescued bear, Lady M, passed away at the age of 43 in a bear sanctuary in Ukraine. The brown bear is the largest predator still living on the continent of Europe and the second largest in North America, followed by the black bear.
